BASIC INFORMATION

WHO (must file):

Residents:

If you are a resident of Maine who is required to file a federal income tax return, you must file a Maine income tax return.

Nonresidents:

If you have received income from Maine sources resulting in a Maine income tax liability, you must file a Maine income tax return.  However, you may not be required to file if your Maine income is less than $6,000 or the number of days worked in Maine is 20 or less.

WHAT (forms do you file)

Residents:

Form 1040ME Maine Individual Income Tax Return

Nonresidents:

Form 1040ME and Schedule NR or NRH Maine Individual Income Tax Return

WHEN (are the tax returns due)

Original due date: April 15th

Extended due date: October 15th

WHERE (do you mail the tax returns)

If you are expecting a refund, send to:
